Default New Tow Vehicle

I decided that it was time to purchase a new tow vehicle. I looked at several different models and mfg's.

This is what I ended up getting. 2012 F-150 FX4. So far I think I made a good choice.

Isn't it great getting a new toy? As a Dodge guy for more than 25 years, I still give you a thumbs up on a good looking truck and I particularly like the color you chose. Which motor did you decide on? I'm guessing with a 4WD it's a V8 with plenty of power to haul.

I did go with the V8, although Ford's new V6 twin turbo acutally makes just a little more HP and torque, I just could not bring myself to go that route. If I remember right Kory's new truck has the V6 and his early report was that it was very good.

It is a good looking truck. Glad to see you didn't get the chrome package. Chrome on the new Fords can make them look like Matchbox toys. Either way you go with their engines is good though. Ford has always been tops in Engineering, imho.

Great looking truck Tony. And since you got the exact same color as my truck, I am partial to it as well lol.

I still love my Ecoboost, in fact there has been a several times when I pulled out to pass someone or pulled the boat up a steep grade and thought to myself that there was no way either of my last two V8's would have handled it that well. You will like that new 5 litre though, its a very strong motor and you should still get plenty good mileage. Congrats again dude, it's a beautiful ride.

I really appreciate all the nice comments, being able to purchase a new vehicle is a big deal to me, we grew up very poor and almost never had reliable transportation. My parents did the best they could but had other priorities. Wish my Grandmother and Grandfather were still alive to enjoy it with me.

Thanks again

well done tavs.... although i am a chevy man. that IS a nice looking truck. she'll serve oyu well i am sure.

my FIRST vehicle was a 1956 ford F-100, bucket of bolts yes, but it had a 312 V-8 AND WOULD HAUL AZZ!! it was originally black, but by the time i got it...looked more like RUST. hahaha!! wish i still had her though. feller bought it, restored it and chopped the top, lowered it and made a BEAUTIFUL cruiser out of her. still had the same motor though. but BUILT. lisa had a 96 ford T-bird. fantastic car. some times you get a lemon no matter what brand is on the grill. but if oyu get a GOOD one, take care of it. it'll last oyu a lifetime.

good luck with your new mistress taves.....lol!!

Nice ride indeed. I have the exact same truck in a 2010 model. I would be surprised if you didn't love it. Congrats.
