Default Wilson Dam

A couple of friends and I went to Wilson Dam on the Tennessee river near Florence Alabama yesterday. The striped bass were biting right below the dam and before the tubines were turned on we cast into the discharge holes with a Zara Spook. A fast walking dog action caught skip jack, stripers, and one large mouth bass. When the turbines started operating we went a little further downstream and I caught a small mouth bass on a crankbait. Continuing to cast a spook I caught what was called a river striper. It had a little bit different markings. It was a good day of fishing and we wound up catching about thirty stripers in the four to ten pound range. We released all that were caught. If you care for that kind of action stay clear of the turbines when operating and wear a life preserver when within 500 feet of the dam. It's the law.
