Well, the heat is on as summer starts to make its way into Texas. The last couple of days have been hot and humid. The wind has been light and the bite has been tough. The mornings have been started with top water, spinner baits, and small crank baits. Work the back of creeks and points leading into the creeks. I have been using the Carolina rig to start some mornings. Just about anything you like to throw will get you a few bites. The fish are scattered and from shallow to deep. The water temps are upper 70’s on the main lake to low 80’s in the back of the creeks. Once the water gets to the mid to upper eighties the fish will start their summer patterns. This is when you can set your watch to what time to be at a certain spot. So watch your watch and when you start getting bit remember the time and the fish should be there again the next day. This will work on shallow and deep fish. The wacky worm has been working when nothing else will get you bit. I am using Wave Tiki Sticks and Lake Fork Tackle Twitch worms. You will need to play with colors. The drop shot has been a little productive on some of the deep water along with Carolina rigs and Storm Swim Baits. Use your electronics to locate the fish and try the above mention baits. The crappie have started showing up in numbers and some days lots of little fish and then some days good fish. Twenty foot of water sixteen foot down with small jigs and minnows is the ticket.
I still have June dates open if you want to book a trip give me a call. Jim Reaneau 1-888-918-5088 |
