Tims Ford
Tims Ford 4-28-05
Rick Jr. and I dropped the kids off at school this morning and headed to Tim's Ford for a a few hours before we had to pick them up again at 2:20pm. On the way over to the lake we discovered that Rick had forgotten to put his rain suit in the boat so we decided to stay close to the ramp area for the brief 4 hours that we had to fish. All in all it didn't turn out to be a bad plan. We put the boat in at 8:00am, never fired up the big motor, just dropped the trolling motor and began fishing. On Rick's very first cast he caught the Smallmouth in the picture on the left of this post. All the fish we caught today were still very tight up on the bank and the bite overall was very subtle. We caught in excess of 15 Smallmouth-Largemouth and Spots with most of the fish taking a 4 inch Zoom June Bud Dead Ringer worm rigged on a Spot Sticker. We tried crank baits-top water-flukes and other assorted baits but the worm was the best by far. Most of the fish we caught today were holding on this wood and with the water level reaching summer pool levels there is an abundance of lay downs and stumps that are holding some good fish. It won't be long before night fishing on Tim's will begin to kick in....but as long as the temperatures at night stay cool the way they have been-daytime action should remain steady. The only time we fired the outboard up was to put the Stratos back on the trailer at 12:30pm..........A good 4 hours with my oldest.......Rick McFerrin Tennessee Bass Guides
