There is a great article on "Insideline" magazine:

Drop-Shotting . . . From A to Z
By Terry Battisti

http://www.insideline.net/2001/battisti-0102-01.html

I hope it can help you somehow.

What do you guys recommend for bait to drop shot?
Water is fairly clear..moss beds about 12 to 15 feet off of bank.
6 to 7 acre pond. I nailed a 5lb 2 ounce out of there on a 1/2oz spinner
but there ARE bigger ones in there. We've seen them crusin around. Just not
biting on much these days.

4" worms, and Baby flukes. I prefer zipper style of worms.

One thing I did not see covered that I am wondering is what about using a small floating worm. I have a bunch of super soft Strike King floating worms, wouldn't this help to keep it in the strike zone?

no floating worms tend to be long 8" or more. you nose hook this baits so there is less than 1 inch of the bait covered with the hook unlike texas rig were 3" are covered.
go with a 4" worm or 3" grub. i like a 3"senko..

I guess I'm a little confused here. First off the drop shot is a different rig then a t-rig, and is "usually" worked differently. But then you reccommend this to someone to use and you just posted this the other day.

I'd go with a 2-3-4 inch plastic, by the time the bass sucks in a smaller bait you can react and set the hook before they feel the line,

I drop shot earlier this summer and had forgot about it, or I would have probably had better luck last night, maybe with a bearpaw gobe, that was the only plastic I got off the sample pack that the bass really liked...

I second this recommendation wholeheartedly. Robo Worms (aarons magic color) are highly effective.

Skeeter, are in in Washington State or DC. I'm in the Seattle area myself.
