I haven't tried this yet, but plan on it this year. Saw it on TV. Swim a jig tipped with a kicker frog (like a Zoom Horny Toad) on it thru the pads. Makes sense to me. Pro's catch alot of fish swimming jigs on tour and the thumping action of the frogs legs should be a good attractant.

Boltzie, I have a buddy that started using a Horny Toad as a jig trailer when they first came out. They definitely work.

Tubes or worms! With a 1/2 to 1 oz bullet sinker thats peged.
In stained water I always insert a rattle into either of them!

Lily Pads
I don't fish with anything higher than 14# test usually. I do however fish around lily pads with a senko or something heavy enough to cast with out a weight. I like to fish the senko's on the top, jerkin them like a bass assassin. I try to walk the dog with them or just plain crawl them over the tops and especially targeting holes between the pads. If I do get a big bass to strike, I try to get to him with the boat if I can't drag him to me.

rig a 6" black/red flake senko on a 5/0 gama EWG.no weight...use 50lb powerpro.pitch it out far back onto the pads.let it fall into the holes and hang on.when you feel the bite just yank that fish outa there.ski him across the pads...do not hesitate and give the fish a chance to get down into the roots.

I'll go with the finesse worm or tube. Or run a small spinnerbait along the edges..all the the recommendations given are pretty good places to start.

I like buzz baits. I also use horny toads a lot now. I use the toads without any weights. I use 50lb. powerpro line. With the toad I make plenty of casts to the same area of pads. I have found that sometimes 6 or 7 casts will result in a strike, sometimes just casting to the other side of a certain pad will do.

here's one
when the lilly's first come out and are flat to the water surface. run a spinner bait around the out side. then remove the box and start chunking and burning a buzzbait right over the top of the pads.. zooker

works very well
http://www.basspro.com/servlet/catal...rTarget=browse Cast it on the edge, or in pockets so the bass can see it, hear it, and smell it. Caught 3 5lb'ers on 1 of these all within 10 seconds of it hitting the water. |

I like to throw a spinnerbait or swim a jig around the edges 1st and work my way in. Once I get to the interior of the pads I like to pitch a jig or tube, and if it's not to thick in there I still like to run a spinnerbait. I also like to throw a Scum Frog or Zoom horny toad over the top of it.
