Well im back after along time of not being here, and unfortunatly i havent had much time to fish. Now im starting to get back into fishing, and im on spring break now. Tommorrow i will be heading down to Key West, anyone done any fishing there lately? I'll mostly be fishing flats, and docks. But i'll be out on a boat one or two days. Any tips? Or does anyone know of a site i can get more info on fishing there? Such as reports and what not. Thanks for any info, and hopefully i'll be able to get some more time to fish in, which means me visiting this site more.

Heh, I was just down in the everglades a few months ago. Jerkbaits for big snook is all I'm gonna say, its a load of fun and theres always the chance of catching good reds, sapper, or even grouper. I don't know how it would work in the keys, but I fished a tidal river at night with shrimp, caught a lot of big black drum, lots of fun. BTW, you go to the bassmaster classic?

thanks for the welcome back. i just returned from the keys and didnt end up going off shore, however the first day i waded out into a flat and caught plenty of baracooda on a jig and plenty of pinfish all released just for fun. second day i caught some pretty big needle nose (i woulda rather not caught them haha) and some more good sized baracooda. I got pretty burnt so i took the next day off and walked around all day, and met some girls( haha its spring break!) the last day there we rented kayaks and fished flats and mangrove trails. i caught more baracooda (theres plenty) and i caught a small shark, not to sure what kind, it was about 2-2 1/2 and put up a good fight. and i caught alotta smaller fish. i didnt get on any reds or trout or snook unfortunatly. i saw huge snook under the docks where we ate dinner one night but there was no fishin signs everywhere. i woulda liked to find lighted docks to fish snook but i gues we never got to that. but im going back in about 3 months, and im going to the bahamas to do some sport fishing offshore this summer. i plan to do some bass fishing this friday probally. looking forward to it. hopefully i'll be round more now, but im grounded right now and im only allowed on the computer at some times. Hula, i didnt go to the classic, i actually forgot all about it to be honest. i've been really busy and caught up with other things the past few months. anyways hope to be around more, and thanks for the help and welcome backs.

We stayed at a friends house there in key west. If you go to key west, you'll see plenty of marinas to put your boat in at, and with marinas you will also see the bait shops. they have no lack of either. if you stay in marathon, you can either stay at the hyatt(or maddisson or something like that) or one of the smaller motels. i stayed at the bonefish once, it wasnt bad, i wasnt there much. it has a boat ramp and docks in the back that you can launch a big boat out of. those are the only 2 islands i have gone to. and the only places i have stayed. i do plan on going to islamorada this summer, which many say is the sport fishing capitol of the world, very goood sport fishing there, and plenty of places to launch big boats. in key west there are plenty of motels and hotels. just stay away from any of the ones on duval street haha. Since you have a boat im sure you'll have aot better fishing then i did. make sure to bring alot of sunscreen, and be prepared for the place to be reallly crowded. you probally already know this, but make sure to wash down your poles and reels and equipment with fresh water after every trip out, that salt can take its toll. good luck fishin out there.

Going to Islamaorda. And yeah nothing can be worse than to get salt in a couple hundred dollar reel and ruin it. We wash our stuff as SOON as we get home after going offshore. Only thing done before that is put the fish and left over bait in the freezer. Another question I can't find a lot on is what do you do with your fish since most motels don't have freezers in em.

bring a cooler, and fill it with ice. depending on how much you catch, you may need several coolers. most motels on the water will have a place by the docks to fillet or clean your catch. just cut off the meat from the fish, put it in ziplock baggies, and throw them in a cooler full of ice.
