Default The Specifics On Win a Few

The pole was my new AiRRUS 6'8" ULX, it has MED power, MED action, I was using 15# test Pline CO-Poly, with a Zoom Vibra Craw 3 inch crawdad, rigged texas style with a 3/0 TEXPOSER hook and un-pegged tungsten steel 1/4 ounce weight (burgundy color) match's the craw color very nicelyl. I had just caught a nice 4 to 5 pounder on the same rig, about 20 minutes earlier. Bassintxlady and I have added a honing stone to our "special equipment" inventory, and will try to start a new policy to sharpen our hooks prior to using them. We did get some nice bass, that day and I'll try to remember to post a couple pics for you all. Thanks for all your input and opinions, I found alot of your comments interesting and I especially want to try the rod tip in the water suggestions on my next outting.

To me it seems the rod is a little flimsy for that type of fishing. I like a faster action and a pretty high power rod for any kind of worm or jig fishing. I'll try and explain the difference in action and power. You may already know and if so just ignore it if not maybe it'll help somebody else.

Action is basicly where the rod bends. Slow action bends towards the handle. Medium somewhere in the middle. Fast from the middle to the tip.

Power is the overall stifness of the rod. The rods I use have a number that designate the power from 1-6 with 6 being the stiffest.

Different companies use different designations for these but they mean the same thing. for example with action some also have an ultra slow, medium fast, and ultra fast action. And the power might be designated as light, medium, med. heavy or heavy.

I hope this helps .

Remember that most hooks are chemically sharpened and therefore you will not be able to improve the sharpness of the hook by using a stone or file.A stone or file will allow you to put a uniform point back on the hook that has been blunted or deformed from the hookset. All hooks are not created equal and I recommend that you experiment with different brands and types of hooks to the one that best suit your needs for a particular soft plastic bait that you use..A person that uses strictly one brand of hook is not getting the best hook for every type of plastic lure he , or she may be fishing. http://www.fishingpatents.com/chemic...ents-usa.shtml It's the same thing , you use electrical current applied to the chemically dipped tip of metal and the chemical forms a sharp cone shaped point as the chemicals are changed from the electrical current applied to it.The chemical drops away taking the metal material with it leaving a cone shaped point. The material has to have a existing point on it to start with if its like the tungstun electrode rod I chemically sharpened while tig welding.P N J
