Default Organizing my boat/tackle

I picked her up friday! Now I havbe the dilema about storing everything. I am gonna need 1 compartment for saftey gear, that leaves me with 1 rod locker, and 1 compartment for tackle storage, I was thinkin just using 3700 trays would be the way to go right? If not what tackle bag do you reccomend, and then How much gear should I allow guests to bring. I was thinking 1 or 2 small tackle bags or just 1 large to extra large bag, 2-3 rods, and extra clothes/gear they may need, as long as it is to cumbersome to where it clogs the mid area of my boat.

I'd go with plano boxs, but just wait till you are figuring out how to get 15 rods in the locker.....it'll happen..rofl

PB, it will probably take you a while to get it the way you want it-just use trial and error until you find which way works best for you.

Pull a dingy behind for storage LOL. Good luck, you'll figure it out, and then you'll change it , and then again, and again.

don't uses the boxes..just cram all your plastics down in the rod locker, put your rods in,lay your rain gear and pfds on top of your rods..everything else just stuff into a compartment..stuff more tackle into your safety gear box...i hope i have helped.i know this works, because that's the way i do it.just remember there are nooks and crannies that you can always stuff more junk into...under the console, under the seat..in with the batteries or fuel tank.another thing you can do is put in a smaller fuel tank.i took out my 32 gallon tank in the back....viola!room for more crap.i still have a 13 gal tank under the set but theres also room under there for more stuff...just takes some yankee ingenuity.

power
welcome to the never ending problem boat/tackle organization..
there is NO boat built that has enough storage..-well maybe a 105 foot yacht-
after recent local problems i remove all tackle and depthfinders/gps from the boat before storing it for a week while i am at work..

Tommy , Just because you raised it from a pup , don't mean you can take it out in public and pet it any time you want ?You gotta keep that thing caged up. Especially that thing. That thing looks like its been ran through a old maytag ringer washer. Do you remember them ? P N J

i like the dingy idea we just bring two tackle bags in the boat and that holds every thing we need and we put our rods any where we can

but we only have a 16.5 foot boat

I would recommend that you leave an area in which your partner could bring more than 2 rods. I have an area were he/she could bring 6-8 rods. It just tell them that they will be the ones stepping on them.

Hey PB, get on ets-systems (there's no .com). It's THE web site for Lake Fork in Texas. Through this site, you can talk over your situation with at least a dozen different Guides. These guys go out 200-250 times a year. I've been out on Fork and other nearby lakes with at five of these guys. Not one of them uses a tackle box or bag. Not long ago I asked J.W. Peterson and Tom Evans where their tackle boxes were. Both answers were the same: "the whole boat is my tackle box". -Good Luck!
