Yesterday, I heard a loud whine coming from my live well. The pump has an automatic setting that you can use once the livewell is full of water.

Sometimes when it comes on, all you can here is water flowing and a slight hum. Other times it sounds like a dry bearing. Any suggestions? Thanks, Dannie |

Zooker could be right, or it could have something in between the impellar and housing. Visual inspection should uncover what it is. If its not the cartrifge style may have to go ahead and get a new one. Cost should be from 20 to 35 depending on what brand and style. One word of advice. Buy the biggest you can get. Saves you some fish and also some money due to the fact that a big pump moves the water more easily and doesnt wear out as fast.
