Its been cold , windy and raining.Saturday I fished 5 hours without boating a bass, caught a crappie and several pickerel.I keept hopping all over different areas and when I went into a shallow cove protected from the wind I found biting bass.In the next 1 1/2 hrs., I boated 11 bass, biggest weighing 3 lbs.I left soaken wet, shivering cold, but happy. This morning, I went back in the cove and nothing doing, even though I could see the bass cruising around.Again I hopped all over different areas trying to get a bite, I caught a 1.5 lber on a jig in 7 ft of water with chunk rock bottom on it and fished it another hour with nothing. It poured, I was soaken wet and shivering again, picked up and was running back out to the launch as fast as I could in a downpour, a big bass broke the surface to my left in the middle of the lake.I shut the motor down, picked up the zara spook jr and caught 4 good bass in 4 casts.then went 3 more casts and caught another bass.I was positive it was too cold to be fishing a spook jr, I took it to test it, because I switched the split rings and trebles out on it.I spent another hour hopping nearby wind blown points and caught 3 more bass on the spook jr and had 2 other blow ups that didn't hook up.I was fishing a senko all morning as well as a spinnerbait with no results. The weather was so bad, the spook jr didn't work the normal zig zag very well because of the 1-2 ft. white caps, but the fish still hit it ?It goes to show you I have got alot more to learn, I haven't a clue why it worked in those conditions ? Who cares, it worked. Good thinking to cast out there to them with it.

Good day Ivan. Would you care to disclose where you were fishing?

pig and jig, that'sthe way to stick it out!!!i've had days like that when you catch squat and decide to try something you don't think will work and it does.that just goes to show you sometimes it pays to think outside the box.

Good job. I've heard that the rain drives critters out of the dirt, and washes them into the lake, starting a feeding frenzy. When I'm out on the river, and it rained the day before, or earlier that day, I often have success fishing steepish banks. Around here, we don't have truly steep banks, so steepish is the best I can get
