Not sure I'm familiar with it-is it like a push button closed face reel but rides under the rod rather than on top?

YEH REBASSER, THE ONLY DIFFERENCE IS INSTEAD OF A PUSH BUTTON , YOU JUST FLIP THE TRIGGER.

If I was going to go that direction I'd just get a spinning reel rather that a trigger spin, but that is just me.

I would look into a Medium to Medium Heavy, and put a nice spinning reel, not a spincaster, maybe if you gave us a link to see the rod and reel?

Why get a spincaster these reels are pieces of crap unless you get the top of the line in that category. Its so much easier to put line on a spinning reel too.

BF02,

the best setup is a fenwick HMX 6ft medium heavy with a Mitchell Reel spooled with 8-12 lb test Spiderline triple x mono.

there aint no best!!!

nope....i gaurentee if you bend a fenwich and an ugly stik the fenwich will break first...and if you do break an ugly stik.....you have a life time warrantee. and shimano sahara IMO is alot better then the mitchel reels...plus...shimano reels can be used for saltwater too if he ever wanted to do some saltwater fishin 8)
