Default Kistler Rods

anyone use Kistler Rods? i own 5 kistlers now. out of about 12 rods i keep in my boat. i always put these 5 Kistlers on the deck every time. i dont ever use anything else. they are so light, i can fish all day with a lot less fatigue they are also super sensitive i dont hardly ever miss a tap. i was wondering if anyone else has used these rods? or if any of the pros use them? ???

Kistler rods are sweet, I know, but money wise I just can't stomach it quite yet. Glad you can though.

Kistlers are definitely awesome rods, but $$$ is a major factor.

Yeah sometimes you wonder if these posts are started from some other post huh

I bought 2 Kistler LTA's on Wednesday. A 7' Heavy Fast action, and a 7' MH Fast action. I went in looking for a St Croix or G Looomis, and was steered to these by the fellow working there. I picked them up, and they did feel awesome. So I bought them. I went fishing saturday, and was pitching into the weeds and laydowns with the 7' heavy rod. As I was dragging the Baby Paca Craw across the mat to a hole, a fish blew up on it through the mat and missed. I quickly pitched it back to the new hole it made and promptly got bit. I set the hook, and the rod snapped in 2 between the first and second eye(on the thicker part of the blank) of the rod. Now for the money I spent I sure don't expect a heavy rod to do that on a hookset. I did boat the bass, and it was about 1 1/2 lb. So no I don't fish with Kistler's anymore, as a matter of fact they are both going back to the store I bought them from TODAY, and exchanging them for either G Looomis, or St Croix. Yes I could have just got a defective rod, but again with spending that kind of money YOU SURE AS HECK SHOULDN'T HAVE TO DEAL WITH A DEFECTIVE ROD IMO. So I'm glad you're happy with them, but I won't be buying anymore of them, on your or anyones elses reccomendation. Hope you don't catch any 1 1/2 lbers and have to set the hook though, they can really be tough on those rods

sorry to hear about your bad experience with kistler. it was probably a bad blank. most breaks do accur when th rod is brand new. usually caused by clamping the rod to tight in the vice while in production. i had the same thing happen to me with a g-loomis. actually the piece that was still in my hand came back and hit me in the face and caused a nasty scratch, i swore i would never buy another g-loomis, but i traded the broken one in for another one and never had another problem. i realised it was probably just a freak deal. it did teach me not to set the hook so hard . good luck with with those 1 1/2 lbers . tight lines

anyone try the kistler senko special? i've been using the falcon weightless worm for senko's, both the cara and the lowrider models. how does the kistler compare?

the senko magnum is probably my favorite rod. it will sail a senko out there a mile.. and is so sensitive. the slightest little tap jars your whole arm. i think what makes kistlers so sensitive is that they have removed the fore grip, which reduced the dampening effect from the cork. which sends more of the vibritions to your fingers. i uses to use a falcon lowrider for my senko. but not anymore. i still use one for my worm rod, but it is only because i dont have a kistler texas rig worm rod yet. but one is on the way. ;D

Lizards, Im not sure if you took the Kistlers back yet, but they will replace the rod for you, for very cheap, probably just the cost of shipping. My dad broke his Kistler Buzz-N-Pop Special and had it fixed for $15.

Rods are like cars, everyone has their own taste, but if your going to trade falcons for kistler I would think again, I back my falcons 100%. I have never had a problem with them, and they are every bit as sensitive as a Loomis rod. good luck Scott R
