Default Got a problem...

I live near a pond and go fishing there about 3 times a week. Ive been going for about 2 years and its been great. Recently an alligator got in and all the blue gill have been disapearing and i think theres even less bass. Its getting harder and harder for me to catch a bass when i use to catch about 10 a day now im lucky to catch 1 or 2. Im not sure if the alligator is eating all the fish or there just not biting anymore. I still see them jumping so i know some are there. I always used watermelon see worms and they stopped working then i tried some lures and that didnt work eathier. I think Im going to try to go early in the morning and use a top water. Then mayby a spinner. I also saw a gar in the pond not sure if that each the fish. I called to get the alligator removed but its under 4 ft in leangth so they wont take it. I dont have any other ponds or lakes near me and this one is so local i just walk there. Not sure what to do any help is apreciated.

We don't have many crockigators around here, but I would'nt think just one would make that much of a differance from it's feeding habbits. Maybe the water temp has changed, or even the ph of the water. I'd try different lures and fishing at different times. Then again, a gator in the water would make me a bit skiddish, so it might be the fish are too. I'm certianly no expert though.

Well, you have three options.
1. Legal, doesn't work. Call the DNR and see if they can get it out.
2. Legal, Even worse. Give up, find a new pond.
3. Illegal, quite effective. .308 Behind the ear, skin him, take the meat, dump the carcass. If a rifle isn't practical, a noose and knife combo is good. Just kidding, not really....

Not illegal if it was "coming right at me and I feared for my life".

Yeah, It's still illegal. Unless you got teethmarks or claw prints on your hide somewhere.

don't worry about the gator, one gator won't deplete the fish population.
