Default braided line

I've Lost Two Lunkers. Once When 10lb Big Game Broke (fresh Spool) Once When 10lb Yozuri Hybrid Broke. I Use A Trilene Knot With Spit, So The Line Doesn't Fray When Cinching Down. In Pretty Clear Water Would I Be Better Off Using A Braid So I Can Can Keep Small Diameter Or Should I Move Up To A 15 Or 20lb Mono Or Flurocarbon?

Thanks In Advance,
Gary

I don't see braid being a problem. Even if the bass do see it, It is green, so chances are they just think its a weed or something. I recommend PowerPro to everyone.
Also, Check your drag setting and Guides on your rod.
If you broke both those lines, something is wrong. Run a Q-tip around the inside of your guides to check for burrs or problems, and loosen the drag to about 1/3 of the break strength of the line. This should help,
But again, I think the braid will not give you any problems as far as visibilty is concerend.Unless the water is just gin clear. If there is any color to it at all, the braid will be fine.

you will need to use a palomar knot with the braid however. It works the best and is a stronger knot than the trilene knot.

You know I am a Power Pro man, and the guys in the club told me that when we go to this lake (which is super clear) that they can't catch a fish with Power Pro on there reel. Me and my cocky a$$ was like, yeah o.k. lemme show you how its done. Well after about an hour of fishing w/o a bite, I grabbed my other rod (with flourocarbon) with the same exact set-up and started slaying them. Just to settle my nerves I grabbed my other rod with braid and once again, not a thing. I have however had as much luck w/ braid on semi-clear water, but when it's ultra clear IMO I would go with something other than braid.

I am currently using Sufix 30lb braid on my worm/jig rod and trilene 12lb mono on my crank/spinner/etc. rod. (Yeah, I only have two decent rod/reel combos.) I have zero problems with the Sufix braid. I don't see a problem using braid with cranks, etc. except that you might lose some casting disatance versus mono.

Try braid with a 2-3 ft. leader of flurocarbon or mono tied together with a double-uni. Get's rid of the clear water issue for the most part.

Welcome to the forum!

How clear is the water? If it is real clear I think it does make a difference. I had a similiar experience to Hef's-braid wasn't working but when I switched to Flouro I started catching fish. If there is a little stain to it braid will work great.

I have to admit, though, that I'm becoming a real fan of flourocarbon-been using Seguar Carbon Pro on my weightless worm rods and have caught a lot of fish-I like the low stretch as well as the invisibility.

Use ANDE, and set your drag right. It is very difficult to break 8-12 pound ANDE on a fish.

If thats the case, braid should be no problem, and you'll really love it when you hang a toad in the salad.

yeah. I hated bassboss from the minute I signed up with it. I go by Tnbasser on all the other forums, mine included, so I am glad Kevin could fix it.
