I get to take the trip of a lifetime this winter, I am going to a small village, called Kanikelele in the southern Njobe region of Tanzania, Africa. I will be visiting my brother, who is in the Peace Corps, helping this village with their problems. There will be no fishing here, I will just be touring this part of the world, maybe climbing Mount Kilamajaro, and getting to see wild elephants, lions, and giraffes. THe only bad part is all the shots I have to get.

Get ahold of the Hemmingway short story, The Snows of Kilimajaro. Its pretty good and will give you something to think about.

What all shots do you have to get? My brother got back from 3.5 years in the Peace Corps about a year ago. He had to have basically every shot available since they were not sure where he was going, he was in the northern part of the Phillipines. Last year I went to Thiland and had to get Hep A/B, typhoid, and tetanus all in one day. Then the 2 more Hep shots later. Those shots can really make you sore, they affect different people different ways too. My mom had a bad reaction to Typhoid (she went to visit my brother) and I always have a problem with tetanus.
Last time I was at the travel clinic there was a guy going to Nigeria and all of the shots for him were going to be over $800. Mine were about $500. Good luck!

i have to get those shots every year when i go to india.going to melbourne in about 4months... the charter has't been catching much it's winter there), so we moved the trip.

think they require 8 differant shots -anit none of the nice either-you will feel like crap after the shots trust me..

Have you been keeping up on what's going on in Africa right now? No way am I going there for no amount of money(well maybe I could be bought). Take care, and stay close to the towns. People are dying there everyday, and mostly form each other. Tyrants are the same all over the world. And they don't even have a better choice of tyrant there. They are all just as bad as the others.

I know whats going on, got two of the shots today, at my sports physical, one was a tetnis shot required by law for all kids my age, another one was the first of two Hepititus A(sp) neither one was bad, am a little sleepy right now.....I made the nurse do em in my left arm, so if it hurt, I would still be able to cast, when I went fishing today

My Hep shots were A and B mixed together. Had to get three of them. The first one, then another one 6 weeks later (or so), and the last one 5 months after that. At least they can mix them so it is one less shot. Maybe you can ask about that.

I got the hepititis B shot a coupl of years ago, so I'm covered for that. Bunch of other stuff I'm not covered for though.
