Fished Boerne City Lake, Texas, with Flyrod and we had our usual comedy of errors. Launched the boat about 5 AM and right out of the chute we had problems. I parked the truck and as I walked back Flyrod yelled we had no TM power. This is an electrics only lake so no trolling motor means no fishing. Fortunately the wind was out of the SE and the ramp is in the N side of the lake so the boat was right up on the bank. No problem-wade out, hop on the back, flip the circuit breaker and we are good to go. Wrong. What I thought was a rock bank was, in fact, due to low water conditions, hydrilla on top of 2 feet of gooey, sticky mud-the kind that doesn't let go. So, I'm stuck. Finally worked free-got my feet out but left my shoes. Dug around in the mud, got my shoes, flipped the circuit breaker and we were on our merry way. Fished for about an hour and a half before I got a dink on a fluke and then Flyrod got a decent one on a Tiki:
![]() and shortly there after I got the fish of the day: ![]() On a C-rigged watermelon/chartreuse tail Trickworm. After the sun started getting up e mover to some deeper water structure but only managed 5 total-3 dinks and 2 keepers. Headed back to the ramp about 12:30 and had more mud games. As Flyrod was maneuvering the boat to drop me off the trolling motor got stuck in the mud and would not budge. I hopped out, sunk to my knees in mud-again, and managed to get the boat unstuck but lost my shoes. Again. Dug them out, got the truck and backed it down. Got out and Flyrod yelled asking if I had any twist ties. Twist ties? Why the **** do you need twist ties? Then Flyrod informed me that the transducer for the depthfinder I have on the TM had snapped off and unless he could tie it up we couldn't use the TM. I had a Velcro tie strip on the anchor rope so he grabbed that and we managed to get the boat on the trailer. To top it all off when I got home I discovered we had left a marker buoy somewhere out on the water. So, we had TM problems, stuck in the mud and lost shoes not one but twice, busted a transducer and lost a marker buoy for three dinks and two keepers we released. And you know what? I can't wait to go do it all over again ![]() ![]()

I don't think it sounds fun, but it was memorable LOL. It's better than work yes, but the only fun part was catching a few fish. Now I can't wait for you to tell me why you wouldn't have taken your shoes off before you got in the mud the second time rotfl.

Nice fish you guys!
I carry long wire ties from work to fix about anything, they sure come in handy..I used them in the garden too to tie up tomatoe plants to 6 ft stakes. ![]() |

Actually, Zooker saved this next trip because when I explained what was happening intermittently with the TM he knew exactly what was going on and how to fix it-thanks, buddy!
Lizards, taking my shoes off never was an option because I didn't want to risk slicing my foot open on a piece of busted glass or something like it that may or may not be buried in the mud where I was wading/sinking/getting stuck. I've seen that happen more than once to other people and would rather dig around in the mud that go get my foot stitched up. Zooker-it DOES look tiger striped ![]() ![]()
