Exclamation GPS Trouble

Here I am again. I went out on the lake this week and had some awesome coordinates I wanted to try. Turned on the GPS and headed out. I came to the area where I thought I needed to be but then found out my GPS was not tracking. I turned it off and then back on. It said it aquired position then as soon as I moved I lost position again. Has anyone had this trouble before and know a solution?

Would help if we had some info on the GPS, the power source for the GPS, internal or external antennae, was your hotspot under treecover in a narrow cove, or out in open water, etc.

Default What brand is it.

I am wandering also what brand it is. I'm looking to one myself. I am strongly considering the Lowrance H2O. Would like to know what yours is. Thanks, Tim

Do you have an external/internal antenea and don't try contacting Lowrance cause all they'll give you is bunch of you know what.

The fisrst thing I'd do is check the connections, sometimes cables look tight, but are not. Also physically look at the cable ends, see if there is any corrosion, bent pins, anything unusual.

Last thing, does your unit have a selection in the menu for internal/external antennae? That might be a problem.

Yes it does and I checked it and were good to go on that. I talked to Lowrance and they said send it in for $300.00 and they will fix it

Default Lowrance GPS

Is this a new installation? Or a recent problem with a unit that has been working OK? If it's a new installation a couple possibilities. Antenna location: should be at least 3' from the unit, and have a clear view of the sky, it's claimed you can mount the antenna under a fiberglass console, but I haven't tried that. Antenna power: the antenna requires a seperate power source to work. If it isn't new and has worked OK until now, check the power supply for the antenna, possible fuse failure. It sounds more like an antenna problem rather than the unit itself.

I would sell the dang thing and buy a garmin or Furuno, this is the kind of stuff we've had with lowrance and many others we know!

Hey Crazy...i have a 332C and have not had any problem with mine. The only things that i can think of for you to try is make sure that you don't have it setup to "Require WAAS" i think it's under the GPS menu somewhere. If the battery that you have your antenna hooked up to starts to run down your antenna will come on and go off(cycle) and you will loose track and regain track...and i am not sure about anyone else but the battery voltage doesn't have to get that low for this to happen...i have had it happen around 10.5 volts. I agree with Bassboogieman it seems like an antenna problem not the unit. Good Luck

I have 2 332c one on the front and 1 behind the dash. I took the front unit and place it on the dash one and everything looked fine.
The battery is the same one for the front one. I like the lowrance when it's working. But I have so much trouble with them I'm about to call it quits and look for new GPS/depth finders.
