This thing really fought like a bass, went deep right out of the gate, then back and forth, I really was thinking holy crap this is gonna be my biggest one ever. Well it was, just not a bass LOL

lol, they do put up a tough fight. was using small bluegill for bass one time, had to go to the car so I opened up the bail and walked a hundred yards back to the car. When I got back I could see my line........halfway across the lake. I ran down there and grabbed the line before it spooled me completely. Starting fighting and got it about 3/4 back before it broke the line.

No I didn't weigh him, what you see is as close as it got to being in the boat LOL. I guess over 20lbs, and less than 30lbs, but that is a guess.

K-Driz,

It had rough, shell, not smooth at all. It did have a decent snout, but it looked like a snapping turtle, with it's back, but just a lot bigger sections then I'm used to seeing. I guess it could have been one of those, as long as some of them do get the corrugated(if that's the proper word) back look. Regardless, it wasn't something I was going to mess with. It got my hook, wasn't going to give it any more.

He was an alligator snapper. He was probably 30 years old and about 25 pounds. That's a beauty, but they can get monstrous. They wiggle their tongue to attract fish, and then eat 'em. One that size could snap two or three broomsticks in one bite with no problems at all.

Caught a ten pounder a while ago, on a berkely powerworm, but was smart enough to cut the line when I saw him.

Yeah, got to watch them. That neck enables them to reach around pretty far and bite. They are also a lot faster than most people think.
