Say you catch and release a nice size bass, what do you think your chances are of landing her again ? Particulars are a smaller lake, under 15 acres and no one has caught one that size or bigger. I was wondering because I did catch one and have tried to recatch her or another big one since last year at the same lake. I've fished the same bank (laydown) where I caught it last year as well as the whole lake.

i can tell ive cuaght the same bass by the number of holes in its mouth. ive heard it takes about a day or two for the bass to start feeding again. that is, if you did not hurt it badly.

Yes you can, but reread what you just wrote. Big Bass aint stew pid, they learn and are cautious usually. That's why they are big bass LOL. If no else is catching her, then you got there at the right time and place. Try to remember "EXACTLY" what the conditions were, and when they are close, then perhaps then is your time to repeat.

bassinbob,
Maybe you need some help finding the big one. Gimme the location and I'll help by dropping another line in the water with the full intent of bagging it for ya. We could cover more water that way. -Ian

its fairly easy to do during the spawn, other times like the heat of the summer or EXTREMELY cold waters, it isn't likely to happen.

Here is one for you. Severasl years ago I caught a big prespawn moma bass at Cherokee lake in mossy creek out from under a willow tree. she was 6.7. She had a growth on here side like a wort or something and was full of eggs. One year later I caught the same female from the same willow only she was 7.4. I know it was the same fish. She had the same growth and ran exactly the same way she had a year before.
Actually if you take that big post spawn female and release her in anothetr part of the lake wher thre is good cover and bait for a week or so she is very vulnerable to be caught agin Fish2win.

They claim that most bass, no matter where they are released , go back to where they were caught, I believe this, but every time you catch a fish, it gets smarter! After the third or fourth time, she may be smarter than you!!!!!
