Default LGMouth Sat Evening

Supposed to meet clients at 3 pm and they arrived at 4:30pm. Wind was kicking up from the south at 28 so I nixed his idea of doing a fly trip. Darn glad I made that decision. Earlier I broke my 6wt ORVIS pulling cover off of boat.. OH WELL... Orvis will fix it. They arrive and a charming 9 year old girl is going fishing with Dad but has to use her rod and reel with 6lb test. I had to figure what would work from my vast lure selection for her. I needed something without treble hooks and any exposed hook. I settled on a tube jig with an HP hook hidden inside. Opened up my tube box and asked the cute little girl to select a tube. That took almost twenty minutes BTW
Earlier::About 2:30 I had arrived and there where about forty bass boats pounding every inch of shoreline on Mattawomen Creek so my possible catch rate was now cut in less than half. But that will not stop me. I am used to picking up fish behind weekend bass fisherman. Seems that they had a big tourny at Smallwood and nobody could leave the creek.. JEBUS why the heck did they have it then??
Back to the fishing action...yea right .. So now we have a tube selected and the wind has pushed about 2 billon yards from where I wanted to fish.. We go back and work the grass edge on a incoming and dad has skills but still zeroed out that night. The cute little girl did the pee pee dance three times causing a return to dock three times during the best bite times. Oh and she lost two fish due to the wimpy rod and lack of hookset. But they had fun.
Dad got sick and puked overboard too. So all in all it was a great trip.
I made about twelve casts and got three nice bass on topwater..No pictures this time.

Default The fox across the river.

Several Boats braved the four foot seas to cross the main river to get out of the south wind and fish the VA side. One such boat ran accross taking in water and bildged it out in marina on the VA side. Needed help from an AC plug. On the way back they broke the back of the boat and had to be towed in. Another boat was flipped and two more swamped.. Four boats where dragged in and sent to repair shop.

No one was hurt this time.

But again I ask why did they have the tourny with SMALL CRAFT WARNINGS ALL DAY..
